HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?

Send an inquiry as soon as you know what date you would like to check for availability. Once we decide we are a match there will be a $100 deposit to secure your date.

SUNRISE OR SUNSET?

Can't go wrong. I would suggest sort of knowing what you want based on photos you have seen but being flexible with what may work best for your family… especially if there are kids. Babies and kids tend to be up earlier from jet lag so many sunrise would be best. I can’t guarantee specific light but I can help us do our best to create images you are wanting. So we can chat more about this!

WILL WE GET WET?

I hope so. I always recommend bringing a towel and an extra pair of shorts of dress if stopping for breakfast or dinner after your session. We will get some waves splashing on our feet but definitely will talk about who does and doesn’t want to get wet before the session. We won’t be going into the ocean unless we talk about it before but we are on a beach so the occasional bigger wave comes in and can get clothing. But that really just adds fun to the photos!

WHATS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

Sort of a loaded question… Best way to see what my photography style is would be to check out my instagram @theoahuphotographer and my blog. My sessions are sprinkled with posed smiles and candid laughs and everything we can capture in-between. I like natural light with bold colors and soft tones. The thing about Hawaii is the sky is always producing so many different colors I go with it. I do not filter my photos with a preset but I do bring out the beautiful colors in the scenery with light and natural editing.

WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

Canon. There’s a ton of great equipment out there these days but I started with Canon and never switched. I have a 5D Mark iv as my main camera and a 6D as my backup. Too many lens to type out but my favorites are my primes! 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, and 85mm 1.2. I also love the 24-70mm 2.8 for wedding receptions and chasing kids around the sand!

WHERE DO WE MEET FOR OUR SESSION?

We will exchange phone numbers and car descriptions prior to meeting. I’ll email directions with specific details if you aren't familiar with the location and we will just text or call to let the other know where we are or if we are running late :)
